Mayor parachutes with Golden Knights Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn jumped from an airplane in tandem with U.S. Army Golden Knight SFC Mike Elliott on March 1. He and 14 other mayors participating in the jump learned it takes just 30 seconds to fall 2 miles when traveling at 120 mph. Bruhn said he was thrilled to jump with Elliott, who was the tandem master for President George Herbert Walker Bush in 2007. The 2-day program to show support for the military took place in Homestead Air Reserve Base where the Golden Knights Parachute Team is training. More of this story...
Register early for 5K Run Among the Lakes on April 10 The Windermere Parks and Recreation Committee will host its ninth annual 5K Run Among the Lakes Saturday, April 10. Town plans annual Easter Egg Hunt The community is invited to the annual Windermere Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Windermere Police Department on Saturday, April 3. Children should assemble prior to 10 a.m. in Pocket Park on Fifth Avenue for a parade to Town Square. The Easter Bunny, Mayor Gary Bruhn and Police Chief Dan Saylor will lead the children to the Town Square for the egg hunt. More of this story...
